Are You Stressed During The Holidays?
If you're stressed-out and ready to cancel your holiday plans, here are a few ways to fight the emotional strain.
- Cut an orange up and breathe it in. A whiff of citrus will change your outlook.
- Squeeze the skin between your thumb and index finger for 30 seconds. Supposedly, this reduces the tension in your upper body.
- Call your mother! Hearing Mom's voice should release those feel-good hormones that regulate your body's ability to defend itself from stress. Of course, this doesn't work for everyone, as some people say talking to their mothers increases their anxiety.
- Learn to say "no." 'Tis the season to give, but don't say "yes" to every request to bake cookies and attend holiday events. "Me-time" is key to an anxiety-free holiday season.
