What kind of building is silver, with black handles and looks like a toaster? Why a toast bar of course, and it's opening in South Portland this fall.

According to the Bangor Daily News, South Portland based Scratch Baking Co. is renovating an old Getty Gas station on Broadway to make it look like a toaster. Inside the giant toaster starting in October, they'll be serving their delicious, fresh, homemade bread toasted how you like it along with fresh coffee served around a community table. Peanut butter, cream cheese, fresh jam. It's your choice.

You won't be able to miss the giant toaster on the corner of Broadway and Sawyer Street. It's the building right next to the old Getty station that will become Scratch Baking's new bread and bagel production facility.

We always thought those lube garages looked like toasters. Look for the finished giant toaster sometime in October.
