Alessia Cara took home the Grammy for Best New Artist at the 2018 Grammy Awards tonight (January 28), capping off a whirlwind year that included a performance on Saturday Night Live and two hit collaborations: "Stay" by Zedd and Logic's "1-800-273-8255."

While accepting her award, Cara said, "Holy cow, I'm shaking. I've been pretend-winning Grammys since I was a kid, like, in my shower, so you'd think I'd have the speech thing down... but I absolutely don't!"

The artist thanked her parents and brother for "believing in [her] and supporting her dream," as well as her fans for being "so supportive."

Cara also shared a message for other emerging artists and music hopefuls:

"There are some incredible artists making incredible music that deserve to be acknowledged that don't always get acknowledged because of popularity contests and numbers games. And that's kind of unfortunate, so I just wanna encourage everyone to support real music and real artists because everyone deserves the same shot."

The 2018 Best New Artist win marks Cara's first Grammy award and her fourth Grammy nomination.

In the "Big Four" category, Cara was nominated alongside Khalid, Lil Uzi Vert, Julia Michaels and SZA.

Hosted by James Corden, the 60th annual Grammy Awards were aired live from New York City's Madison Square Garden on Sunday January 28, 2018.
